W październiku 1974r. premierę miała siódma studyjna płyta legendy
muzyki progresywnej, brytyjskiej grupy Jethro Tull, zatytułowana "War
Child". Jak nietrudno policzyć, w 2014r. materiał świętował 40. urodziny
i z tej okazji został wznowiony w specjalnej wersji z wieloma
dodatkowymi kompozycjami.
"War Child - The 40th Anniversary Theatre Edition", pod takim tytułem
ukazała się rocznicowa reedycja następcy doskonałego "A Passion Play",
który zdobył szczyt listy "Billboardu". "War Child" radził sobie
niewiele gorzej, bo dotarł w Ameryce do pozycji drugiej, za to w
Wielkiej Brytanii płyta podobnie jak poprzedniczka pokryła się złotem.
W założeniach "War Child" miał być ścieżką dźwiękową do filmu,
metalicznej czarnej komedii, jak ją wówczas określono. W jego powstanie
miał być zaangażowany John Cleese, członek Monty Pythona. Niestety,
żadne duże studio filmowe nie wykazało zainteresowania sfinansowaniem
projektu.
"War Child" nagrał skład Jethro Tull uznawany przez wielu fanów zespołu
za najlepszy w jego historii, czyli: Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, John
Evans, Jeffrey Hammond i Barriemore Barlow. Największą popularność z
płyty zdobyła piosenka "Bungle In The Jungle".
Na dodatkowym CD znalazło się 11 kompozycji zarejestrowanych w czasie
sesji do albumu oraz niepublikowane dotąd utwory z płyty w wersji
orkiestrowej. Dwa DVD audio zawierają m.in. miksy w formacie 5.1 DTS.
