Guillermo Scott Herren, znany m.in. również jako Savath & Savalas,
powraca do swego avant-hiphopowego projektu Prefuse 73. Płyta
"Preparations" w dużym stopniu nawiązuje do słynnego krążka "One Word
Extinguisher", tyle że nowe nagrania, pod względem aranżacyjnym, brzmią
jeszcze bardziej bogato, żywo i organicznie. Herren sam zagrał na takich
instrumentach jak fortepian, bas, flet, perkusja, klarnet czy
wiolonczela, sam siebie wysamplował, poskładał i wykreował niemalże całą
orkiestrę.
Tym razem zrezygnował z udziału wokalistów, a na płycie wspomaga go
jedynie John Steiner (Helmet, Tomahawk, Battles) oraz nowojorska
formacja School Of Seven Bells. "Preparations" mają bardziej
instrumentalny charakter, jednak w przypadku Prefuse 73, sama muzyka
niesie ze sobą dużo więcej treści oraz emocji i jest dużo bardziej
wymowna, niż całe zastępy MCs na mikrofonie.
